Recently, I preached a sermon on Romans 8 in which we saw the “Golden Chain” of redemption described by Paul. God decreed our salvation from before the foundation of the world, predestining the elect to be conformed to the image of Christ. We can have confidence in the hope of our salvation. The sermon led to a few questions about passages such as Revelation 3:5-6 and 1 John 1:9 and how they fit into this reality. I’ve taken some time to address the question in this brief podcast episode.
By the way, below you will find an infographic originally designed by William Perkins, a puritan scholar who put together an “order of salvation” and “order of damnation” that illustrates salvation for the believing and what falling away tends to look like for false converts. Tim Challies had an artist remake the infographic, and it is quite well done. Click the image to visit his website.
